Regarding the Distribution of Non-School Materials at Cross Oaks
In accordance with district and TASB policy FNAA (LOCAL), our campus has chosen to establish these procedures regarding the distribution of non-school materials at our school. Parents, students, and community members are welcome to utilize our limited public forum for this purpose, following these guidelines.
Materials for our public forum must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance for review by the campus. The purpose of this review is to ensure that the materials do not contain any of the specified categories of prohibited content, such as speech that is defamatory, that advertises or encourages the use of illegal drugs, or that is reasonably calculated to cause a material disruption of school operations.
Once materials have been reviewed, they will be placed in the front lobby of our school, outside the office in designated magazine racks for a period of 20 calendar days. After 20 days have passed, all remaining materials should be picked up, or they will be recycled. The distributor of the materials is responsible for supplying the school with copies of any literature to be displayed.
Individuals or organizations wishing to distribute materials such as flyers by sending them home in student backpacks first need to have them approved through the district by contacting Darrell Muncy at dmuncy@dentonisd.org. As stated above, the school is not responsible for making copies for this purpose.
