    STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE 2019-2020

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are pleased to announce that Denton ISD has contracted with Student Insurance Plans to administer the student accident insurance program for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Denton Independent School District provides a supplemental student accident insurance plan to 7-12 grade students participating in UIL/Athletic activities. Accidents occurring during scheduled practice sessions, games, tournaments, events at other schools, and/or travel to and from activities are covered under this plan.

Student Insurance Plans also offers Denton ISD Parents/Guardians the opportunity to purchase additional coverage to supplement their primary insurance.

“School Time Coverage” is in force for the hours and days when school is in session and while attending school sponsored and supervised activities on or off the school premises. This plan does not cover Athletics/UIL activities in grades 7-12.

“24 Hour Coverage” is in force around the clock, 24 hours a day, including summer, weekends, and vacation periods. Protected at home or while away – any time, any place, anywhere.  The UIL/Sports Coverage protects students while at practice or participating in school sponsored and supervised UIL Activities and Sports for grades 7-12. Football Coverage for grades 9-12 is excluded.

“Football Coverage” is in force while students participate in practice or play of school sponsored and supervised football activities, including travel to and from by in-school transportation. This coverage is for grades 9-12. School time and 24 hour coverages must be purchased separately. Standard Plan option only.

The student accident insurance plans offer ACCIDENT coverage and contain limitation and exclusions.

    STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE 2018-2019

Denton ISD has contracted with Texas Student Resources/Health Special Risk (HSR), Inc. to administer the student accident insurance program for the 2018–2019 school year for all athletics and UIL related injuries.  This coverage acts as a supplement (secondary) to any coverage that you may have. The individual’s insurance coverage is primary.  If the individual does not have primary insurance coverage, the school insurance will only pay the maximum benefits allowed.  There is also a catastrophic policy which covers charges that exceed $25,000.  The premium for these policies are paid by DISD; there is no cost to you as a parent.

In addition to the above policy, DISD also offers a voluntary supplemental policy that is very affordable and is available to any student enrolled at Denton ISD for a single low annual premium payment. There are different policy options available.
