Sculpture and CeramicsSculpture (3-D Art) is offered after a student has successfully completed a year of Art 1. 3-D Art involves the exploration of ceramic clay as well as wire, cardboard, found objects, wood, plaster and paper. The elements and principles of design provide the basis for exploration.
Ceramics emphasis is in clay: hand built projects and wheel throwing. The Art Department of Ryan High School has 4 potter's wheels for ceramics students. Developing structures from clay, exploring handbuilding techniques, learning to use the potter's wheel, and experimenting with glaze techniques are a part of this Ceramics course.
