Vector Addition (Tip-to-Tail)

Sorry, the GeoGebra Applet could not be started. Please make sure that Java 1.4.2 (or later) is installed and active in your browser (Click here to install Java now)

Notes:

(1) Vector u can be moved by either dragging points A and/or B, or by dragging the vector itself by picking it up at some point between A and B.
(2) With the BC slider at its maximum extent to the right, vector v can be moved by either dragging points C and/or D, or by dragging the vector itself by picking it up at some point between C and D.
(3) Vector v can only be changed if the BC slider is at its maximum extent to the right.
(4) Translate the tail point, C, of vector v to the tip point, B, of vector u by dragging the BC slider left so that BC = 0.
(5) With the BC slider at 0 a "Show sum" check-box will appear. Select the check-box to show vector w, the sum of vectors u and v.
(6) The translation of the tail of vector v to the tip of vector u can be automated by selecting the "Automate" check-box. However, to see the sum of vectors u and v deselect the "Automate" check-box and move the BC slider manually.
