    Dear Families:

As a result of many years of planning and leadership efforts by community members, parents, volunteers, Denton ISD team members and our Board of School Trustees, Union Park Elementary continues to take shape in preparation for its opening in the fall of 2019.

As we make plans to open Union Park Elementary – and as we continue to experience high rates of growth throughout the entire district – adjustments will have to be made to attendance zone boundaries. These adjustments ensure that we keep the number of students at a level that provides them the greatest opportunity to learn and grow.

These boundary zone changes will take effect at the start of the 2019-2020 school year and ease the overcrowding at current campuses and our newest school.

The proposed boundary changes will affect all students in the Paloma Creek and Bell Elementary attendance zones. Current fourth graders who might be affected by the change may choose to remain at their current school for fifth grade.  Siblings of these current fourth graders will also be able to remain at their school, should families choose, so long as they are already enrolled or will be enrolled prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year.

We will be presenting the proposed changes to attendance zones at two community meetings and want your input on these proposals because we value the importance of our schools and families working together to make this change as successful as possible.

We invite you to join us for more information at one of the following times:

    • Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at Paloma Creek Elementary Cafeteria – 1600 Navo Rd., Aubrey, TX 76227
    • Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Bell Elementary Cafeteria – 601 Villa Paloma Blvd., Little Elm, TX 75068

If you are unable to attend one of these meetings, you can find the information on the proposed changes on our website at www.dentonisd.org/rezone once the meetings have been held and community input has been gathered.
