About RHS Cheer...
RHS Cheer began in 1996 when RHS changed over from Denton High School "Ryan Campus" to it's own separate identity as "Ryan High School." The cheerleaders set the standard by participating in national competitions and upholding high standards. The first competition at this campus was in 1995, and the first RHS cheerleaders to compete did so in 1996. The cheerleaders continue to succeed and have high standards today.
The cheer squads consist of the freshman squad, JV (Sophomores and Juniors), and Varsity (Juniors and Seniors). The cheerleaders tryout in the spring and begin preparation immediately for camp and the upcoming school year. Cheerleading meets daily throughout the school year (5th block for Varsity/A4 for Sub-Varsity). Often times, the cheerleaders practice before/after school, as well.
The cheerleaders participate in many fundraisers and events. Every year the cheerleaders host a junior cheer clinic for children ages 4 and up. They also participate with Denton, Guyer, and Braswell in a summer middle school cheer camp. The cheerleaders spend their summers hosting car washes, selling program ads and other various fundraisers.
