Alternative Certification Requirements
To become certified through Alternative Certification, an applicant must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
The certification applicant may apply to a college, university, or Alternative Certification provider the State of Texas during their final semester of their bachelor’s degree. It is the individual's personal responsibility to investigate to choose the provider which is the best source for his or her individual situation.
Upon receipt of the Statement of Eligibility from the Educator Preparation Program, the candidate will be able to accept a contracted teacher position with the district.
