Denton ISD Students Earn Prestigious TDEA All-State Dance Honors

Denton Independent School District is proud to recognize two high school seniors, Azul Gamero (Guyer High School) and Jordyn Gilbert-Marion (Ryan High School), who represented the district as members of the Texas Dance Educators’ Association (TDEA) All-State Dance Team, one of the highest honors a high school dancer in Texas can achieve.

The TDEA All-State Dance Team is composed of the most accomplished dance students from across the state, selected through a highly competitive audition and evaluation process. All-State dancers participate in an immersive, statewide convention experience that includes advanced dance workshops, leadership development, master classes with industry professionals, and opportunities to collaborate and connect with peers from across Texas. The experience culminates in a showcase performance choreographed by a master choreographer.

In January 2026, Denton ISD students traveled to Houston to perform as part of the All-State Dance Team during the Texas Dance Educators’ Association Convention. Their participation reflects both individual excellence and the strength of Denton ISD’s fine arts programs.

The district is proud to recognize the following students and their directors for this outstanding achievement:

  • Azul Gamero, 12th grade, Guyer High School
    Director: Rachel Simpson
    Assistant Director: Lauren Uddin
    All-State Scholarship Recipient

  • Jordyn Gilbert-Marion, 12th grade, Ryan High School
    Director: Keli Jones
    Assistant Director: Jasmine Jaramillo

Selection to the TDEA All-State Dance Team is a testament to each student’s exceptional talent, discipline, and commitment to their craft, as well as the dedicated instruction and mentorship provided by their campus directors.

Denton ISD congratulates these students and educators on this remarkable accomplishment and celebrates their continued contributions to the district’s vibrant fine arts community.
