Guyer High School Recognized on 2025 AP School Honor Roll

The College Board has recognized Denton ISD’s Guyer High School with placement on the 2025 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, highlighting the campus's exceptional commitment to student achievement and college readiness.

The AP School Honor Roll annually recognizes schools whose AP programs deliver strong outcomes for students while expanding access and participation. Schools earn this distinction based on criteria demonstrating their dedication to fostering a college-going culture, creating opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

"This recognition is a testament to our outstanding teachers who challenge and inspire students every day, the incredible hard work and dedication of our students, and the strong partnerships we have with our parents who support their children's academic journey," said Guyer High School Principal Dr. Shaun Perry. "Our AP program continues to prepare our students for success beyond high school, and we're incredibly proud to see these collaborative efforts recognized at the national level."

Schools must meet specific benchmarks to qualify for the AP School Honor Roll:

  • College Culture: A minimum of 40% of graduates took one or more AP Exams.
  • College Credit: A minimum of 25% of graduates earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam.
  • College Optimization: A minimum of 2% of graduates took five or more AP Exams, including one in ninth or 10th grade.

Guyer High School earned Bronze status in the college culture, Silver status in college credit, and Platinum status in college optimization.

"Guyer High School's achievement reflects our district's commitment to excellent student outcomes and providing rigorous coursework, preparing our students to be Future Ready," said Denton ISD Superintendent Dr. Susannah O'Bara. "This honor demonstrates that our students are not only taking on that challenge, but they're excelling in it. I commend our students, teachers, counselors, and administrators for their outstanding work."
