Become a member of PTSA!
Do you know how important yourmembership in the PTSA is? Read on to learn about PTSA and what it does to improve the lives of your child and all the others here at Denton High School.
Partnerships between parents, educators and children enhance children’s success. We know that children learn more and have better lives when everyone in the school community works together to share thoughts and information and work on projects to benefit children. Your membership dues—regardless of any time commitment you wish to make—directly help Denton High School. Each year the DHS PTSA puts on the Homecoming dance, it recognizes the efforts of seniors by awarding scholarships, it provides the newsetter to help keep parents informed and showcase student events and achievements, and it gives grants to teachers to help them provide classroom enrichment opportunities. It also acknowledges the hard work of the staff at Denton High School.
The portion of your dues that goes to state and national PTA help to support important legislative issues that affect education, children and families. Some of the issues on the PTA’s legislative agenda this year include school recess, cement kilns, strong school libraries, reduction in childhood obesity, violence prevention in schools, and fine arts in the core curriculum. If you are interested in knowing more about the legislative activities of Texas PTA, go to their website (txpta.org), click on legislative, and sign up for their legislative newsletter, Under the Dome.
In addition, when you join the PTA you receive some member perks in exchange. Some of the companies that have partnered with PTA include: Enterprise Rent-A-Car, LaQuinta Inns & Suites, Dell, Six Flags, SeaWorld, Schlitterbahn, Nationwide Insurance, Sharp Eletronics, and T-Mobile. A flyer with information on the beneifits will be posted on the Facebook page and PTSA website on the Denton High School page.
