aaustin@dentonisd.org940-369-2891Mrs. Austin & FamilyHello! I am so excited to be the counselor at Hodge Elementary. I graduated from University of North Texas in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Composition and an endorsement in Technical Writing. Then I taught 4th grade for the Dallas Independent School District for 11 years. In 2012 I completed my Master of Education in Professional School Counseling from Lamar University. I worked as the school counselor in Dallas for one year before I decided to bring it on home to Denton where I have lived for the past 20 years.I am originally from Crystal City, Texas where I grew up with my two sisters and both of my parents. I now love being a part of Denton and Denton ISD with my husband and three children. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at 940-369-2891 or aaustin@dentonisd.orgSabrina Polk
Student Assistance Counselor
spolk2@dentonisd.org940-369-2804Hello Parents,
Welcome to Hodge Elementary. I am the new IMPACT counselor, Individuals Maximizing Positive Advocacy for Children & Teens. My office hours are 7:30-3:30 Monday - Friday. You can reach me at 940-369-2804 or by email at spolk2@dentonisd.org. I will do my best to contact you on the day you reach out to me. If I do not, I am off campus or helping with an emergent issue.
This will be my 24th year as a counselor and my 27 year in education. I've had the opportunity to see many students succeed and flourish in Denton ISD. Denton has been my hometown since I began at the University of North Texas in 1989 and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1992 and a master’s degree in Counseling Education in 1998 at UNT.
I believe that school cultures should provide students with the ability to grow emotionally, creatively, physically, and academically within a safe and nurturing environment. As a school counselor, I will work with you and your child to discover their various potentials and to learn the joys of becoming lifelong learners. I believe that diversity is to be respected and appreciated as the school fosters unity among our students, faculty, staff, and community.
I am excited about the 2022-23 school year.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Polk, M.Ed., NCC, LPC
