Registration for high school summer classes begins

Registration for Denton ISD’s summer school program for high school students is now open and lasts until June 6, offering students the ability to earn course credits for advancement or retrieval.

Denton ISD’s summer school program for high school students lasts 15 days, from June 7 to June 30, although students who complete their work prior to the end of classes may finish early. Classes will take place 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, with Fridays and weekends off.

All classes will be held at Ryan High School, located at 5101 E. McKinney St. in Denton. A bus will be offered from each high school campus to Ryan High each class day.

Registration is $250 for Denton ISD students and $355 for out-of-district students. Courses that are offered for advancement require approval from a campus counselor. Those courses include government, economics, BIM, English IV and professional communications. Depending on enrollment figures, some classes may not be offered; students will be notified and their registration fee will be returned if classes can’t be offered.

Credit retrieval courses are offered during summer school for classes in the four main subjects – English, math, science and social studies.

More information on the summer school program can be obtained from each high school’s campus counselors.
