Dallas Zoo event to feature Pecan Creek artists, choir

Pecan Creek Elementary students will have their artwork on display and the student choir will perform as part of Forest Wildlife Weekend at the Dallas Zoo on Saturday, Sept. 17, and Sunday, Sept. 18.

Pecan Creek students participated in an educational program sponsored by the Dallas Zoo highlighting endangered animals and the measures that humans can do to help protect them. The students then created artwork featuring some of these animals, which will be on display at a special art exhibit at the zoo.
“The zoo shared the information with me and I thought it’d be fun to incorporate the tips of helping protect endangered animals into our art lessons,” said Jennifer Hartman, art teacher at Pecan Creek.
The Pecan Creek Bear Tones Choir will also be performing twice – at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – Saturday, Sept. 17, as part of the weekend festivities.
The Dallas Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year round. For more information on Forest Wildlife Weekend visit
