Readers Café on Feb. 2 to highlight students' improvement

Family and friends of students in the Denton Independent School District’s reading intervention programs are invited to the seventh annual Reader’s Café from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, at Lee Elementary School.

Students currently enrolled in the district’s Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura programs will read excerpts from their favorite books to various “special” guests including: Denton ISD Board of Trustees members, school and campus administrators, teachers, family and friends. The readings will allow students to showcase their reading improvement and further build their confidence in reading aloud.

“These students benefit from reading aloud to others and this is a great event for them to show their progress to family, friends and community members,” said Dr. Mike Mattingly, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
