Drive 4 Ur School event on March 4 to benefit ATC Food Truck project
The LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex is partnering with Bill Utter Ford to host the Drive 4 Ur School event from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the ATC, located at 1504 Long Road in Denton.
Drive 4 Ur School is Ford Motor Company’s test-drive program that awards $20 for every vehicle driven during the event to a particular cause, up to a total of $6,000. Any person age 18 or over with a valid driver’s license is eligible to participate.
All funds raised will benefit the ATC’s Food Truck project, which has been a collaboration between the school’s culinary arts, automotive technology, engineering, architecture and graphic design classes. The goal of the project falls in line with the school’s mission of providing high school juniors and seniors with professional training and ultimately helping students earn certifications or licensures.
“This is a great way for the people in our community and our students to easily support a project that will benefit Denton ISD and the students we serve now and into the future,” said ATC Principal Marcus Bourland.
Bill Utter Ford plans on having a wide selection of vehicles available for test drives including Mustangs, Explorers and F-150s.
The food truck will also be out for people to view the current work completed by ATC students. Renderings of the finished product as well as marketing materials designed by the students will also be available.
Additionally, the third annual Touch a Truck fundraiser will be taking place next door at the C.H. Collins Athletic Complex. The event allows children and their families to explore a variety of trucks and vehicles.
The event has a suggested donation of $2, with proceeds benefitting ATC student scholarships and licensing fees through the Denton Public School Foundation.
