GOAL Cup Middle School Soccer Tournament Set for May 13

Denton Independent School District’s Guys/Girls Operating As Leaders student enrichment program will host its sixth annual GOAL Cup soccer tournament from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ryan High School.

The tournament will feature multiple chapters from the district’s participating middle schools as well as students from Lake Dallas and Lewisville ISD. Students on the club teams are all part of the district’s GOAL program, a student enrichment initiative aimed at getting students to develop leadership skills in and out of the classroom through academic exercises, team work activities and soccer.

The winning clubs will each get to keep the prestigious GOAL Cup on their campus throughout the 2016-17 school year. The girls championship game is set for 2 p.m., with the boys championship tentatively set for 3 p.m.

Admission to the tournament is free and all soccer fans are welcome to attend. GOAL T-shirts and concessions including hot dogs, chips, candy and drinks will be on sale. Proceeds benefit the GOAL program.
