District Earns 2017 Texas Thespian Festival Commendations
The Texas State Thespian State Convention hosted 7,800 theatre students from across the state in attendance at the 2017 Convention Nov. 15-18 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine. Two troupes from Denton ISD participated and advanced ten students to National Competition, which will take place at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln in June 2018.
Braswell High School was named a Texas Thespian All-Star Troupe at the 2017 Texas State Thespian Conference. This honor is only bestowed upon ten schools of 300 troupes attending from all over the state. Community Service, productions, and an entry presentation are the criteria that adjudicators use to determine the All-Star Troupe recipients.
In addition to being named an All-Star Troupe, Braswell High Theatre qualified five students for Nationals.

Denton High School Theatre qualified five students for Nationals at the 2017 Texas State Thespian Conference. Denton High School’s qualifiers represent both performance and technical theatre and two students, Senior Jackson Dean and Junior Isaac Castillo, qualified for national competition for the second time.
