District places 12 students on North Texas Children's Choir

A dozen students from two Denton ISD campuses will represent the district in the 2018 North Texas Metroplex Children’s Choir.


Students had to participate in a separate audition for the NTCC, with a handful that met the criteria being selected by the choir instructor or music teacher at their respective campus. These students are part of the 228 students from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area selected to the choir.


The students will perform as members of NTCC at the 22nd annual North Texas Metroplex Children’s Choir Concert on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas. Tickets start at $28 and can be purchased at


The Denton ISD students on the 2017 North Texas Metroplex Children’s Choir include:


McNair Elementary – Emma Beeks, Rachel Brushingham, Sysia Cates, McKinley Carr, Faith Dinsmore, Ethan Gehlhausen, Kaitlyn True.

Megan Johnson is the music teacher at McNair Elementary.

Wilson Elementary – Emma Anderson, Rosalyn Hasse, Patricia Hernandez, Olivia Orozco, Abigail, Spears.


NTMC is a non-profit organization with the goal of helping children have an enriching musical experience outside of the traditional classroom. 


“It is my desire to help children express a passion and joy for choral music,” says artistic and executive director Ann Smith, “I also want to help each child develop not only as an extraordinary singer, but as a leader in our schools and communities through their experience in the North Texas Children’s Choir.”
