Students Eat Free - All year!

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue recently announced the extension of nationwide flexibilities allowing free school meals to all children throughout the United States until the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

This extension allows Denton ISD Child Nutrition to continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all currently enrolled Denton ISD students -regardless of their family’s income- until the end of the school year. ConnectedLearning (remote) students are also included in this extension.

The five day weekly meal-bundling pickup services for ConnectedLearning students will continue at the elementary campuses listed below. Meal bundle pickup is held every Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 to 6 p.m. All families will be required to provide a current Denton ISD student ID upon pickup.

“We’re excited to see this program continue and we want all of our students to know that they do not have to worry about breakfast or lunch while attending school,” said Chris Bomberger, executive director of child nutrition.  “Although parents do not have to complete an application for their child to receive free meals for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year, there are more resources available to the student, as well as the district, when they complete a free and reduced lunch application.  The application is available on the district website.”

The free and reduced lunch program is a confidential federal program that feeds public school students across the country. To complete the free and reduced lunch application, visit: www.schoolcafe.com/.
