Ernie Stripling, Technology Information Officer
Mr. Ernie Stripling has been Denton Independent School District’s technology information officer since 2000. He was previously the technology director for Wylie ISD and director of network services for Richardson ISD.
With 15 years of experience in business and technology application development and 18 years of experience in public education, Mr. Stripling has a solid foundation in technological services that deliver professional and academic growth. Under his direction, Denton ISD has received numerous technological accolades including being recognized among the top technologically advanced school districts in the nation by the Center for Digital Education.
Mr. Stripling has also helped the district develop its own fiber optic cable network, limiting the need to lease from outside vendors, become the first school district in the nation to convert to an all Cisco VoIP telephony system and allowed for technology to reach the hands of more students through the use of video streaming, robotics, tablets and mobile devices.
Denton ISD Technology has also become known for its exceptional customer service in assisting students, staff and district families. Today the technology department has a world-class Help Desk that provides personalize service to an average of 300 calls per day, with every port in every switch, every server and every application throughout the district monitored by a state-of-the-art Cisco Information Center through a complex series of SNMP connections.
Mr. Stripling has also worked to establish a connection with Denton ISD students, with many of the district’s graduates serving internships in the technology department and eventually joining the technology staff. Technology also works with current students in refurbishing computers for needy district families through the Computers 4 Kids program.
A Texas native and graduate of Arlington High School, Mr. Stripling received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University with an All-Level teaching certification in Art Education. He later earned his master’s degree in art from the University of Dallas.
