Desiree Williams, a junior at Fred Moore High School, won this year’s Denton Rotary Club Four-Way Speech Contest on February 27, 2019. Students from all Denton ISD high schools participated in the contest at DHS. Desiree won the top prize of $300 for her speech, which was judged by members of the Denton Rotary Club. She now advances to the district competition in April.
Desiree is FMHS’ first student to enter the contest, and her success has sparked interest among many other students. Fred Moore has a very active Interact Club, with participation from more than two-thirds of the student body. Sponsored by Rotary, Interact Clubs develop leadership skills while helping students discover the power of service above self.
The Four-Way Speech Contest is organized and run by local Rotary clubs. Rotary is an international community service organization, and the Four-Way Test consists of questions Rotarians use to guide their personal and professional interactions:
