Denton ISD Modifies Two Days for Spring 2022 Semester

At the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Denton ISD Board of School Trustees approved calendar modifications impacting two days in the spring semester.

The modifications reflect two days during the spring semester that will become early release days for students and teacher planning and preparation days for staff. All campuses and offices will be open to the public, but students will not have class during the afternoons on the designated days.

The Board’s approval changed the following from full-day instructional days to student half days:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 9 (Half Day)
    • “B” day for high school students
  • Wednesday, April 13 (Half Day)
    • “A” day for high school students

“Based on the feedback we received from our teachers and principals, we feel that these half days represent important time needed to plan and prepare our students amidst all of the challenges they’ve faced this year,” said Dr. Jamie Wilson, superintendent of schools. “By utilizing these days, teachers will have the time needed to plan, work and collaborate.”

This modification to the calendar is made possible without extending the school year as a result of a professional development minutes waiver.
