Dr. Kelly:
I would like to introduce Ms. Janet Cephas as Cheek Middle School’s first Teacher of the Year. Ms. Cephas serves as a Digital Learning Specialist. In her role, she works with every student and teacher at Cheek. Ms. Cephas’ peers recognize her as a “go to” person when they need help integrating technology, engaging students in their learning or developing classroom management strategies.
Moreover, they recognize her as a caring support who guides and listens. She takes to heart her role in establishing a caring and supportive learning environment. Ms. Cephas honors and respects the diverse needs of all she serves. Her years of experience, dedication to her work and her heart for service make Ms. Janet Cephas a natural choice for Teacher of the Year.

I am of the belief that all students can learn. I feel that I can contribute to student learning by providing the best learning environment possible. I believe in this motto, “Pride, Respect, and Excellence,” and I want to leave a positive impression on the students and teachers that I teach. I am currently in a unique place where I get to work with teachers, parents, and students. This puts me in a position to serve a community of learners. When my students, whether adults or children, see my enthusiasm, it motivates them to want to learn more and it motivates me to want to do more for them. Nothing is more important to me than the well-being of my students.
