Each year, districts across the state of Texas may submit artwork made by Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade student artists to be considered for exhibition in the Youth Art Month State Capitol Artwork Exhibit in Austin.
This year’s version of the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Youth Art Month State Capitol Exhibition2021 features a display at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in the Lower Rotunda of the Texas State Capitol Building running from March 10-28.
Two art students from Denton ISD had artwork selected for this prestigious exhibit. Eleventh Grader Kyndall Knotts from Guyer High School and fifth-grader Abigail Ventrca from Stephens Elementary each had their original work included in the prestigious show. The process was done virtually this year due to the pandemic as all pre-K through 12 submissions were submitted online. The pair of winners were part of the 100 pieces of artwork selected for the display.
Christian Reid is the art teacher at Guyer High School and Megan Trammell is the art teacher at Stephens Elementary.
