Crownover Middle Seventh Grader Wins District Spelling Bee


At the annual Denton ISD Spelling Bee, Alycea Morales, seventh grader at Crownover Middle School was named the champion after correctly spelling the word “eulogy” in the championship round.  The final two contestants competed through the 28th round as the spelling bee lasted more than two hours.

 

The top 3 winners from his or her individual campus bee, earned the right to compete for the district title.  In all, more than 20 students participated in the district spelling bee.  Alex Evangelopoulos, seventh grader from McMath Middle School, will join Alycea as the district’s representatives at the county bee.

 

The County Bee will be held at Lake Dallas High School Performance Hall in Corinth at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31.
