Dr. Lacey Rainey Selected as Assistant Superintendent of Academic Programs
Dr. Lacey Rainey has been named Denton ISD’s new Assistant Superintendent of Academic Programs, effective July 1.
Dr. Rainey will replace Dr. Susannah O’Bara, who is becoming the district’s new Deputy Superintendent. Most recently the Area Superintendent of the Denton High School Zone, Dr. Rainey has supervised all schools in the heart of Denton for the last two years. Prior to that, Dr. Rainey was the principal at Pecan Creek Elementary School for five years.
She has more than 20 years of experience as an educator.
“Dr. Rainey has a heart for our community and continually seeks ways to connect with our families,” said Dr. Susannah O’Bara, deputy superintendent. “Her high energy and passion for student learning will help carry our district into the future.”
Dr. Rainey has a reputation among her colleagues for being a thoughtful collaborative leader who has implemented proven, researched instructional practices that improve academic performance. She has previously taught for Lufkin ISD, Allen ISD and currently serves as an adjunct professor at both the University of North Texas and Dallas Baptist University.
Dr. Rainey earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in Spanish and master’s degree from Texas A&M University - Commerce. She completed her doctoral studies at Dallas Baptist University in 2016.
