Celebrate Grandparents Day with Your Student

Though they may not be serving grandma’s famous apple pie, Denton ISD’s elementary schools are opening up their doors to serve grandparents a special breakfast or lunch in honor of National Grandparents Day. While the day is typically celebrated the Sunday following Labor Day, students across the district will be participating in activities throughout the month of September.

Whether it is through sharing a meal together, reading aloud to their class, participating in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities, or simply just talking about their day at school, grandparents are invited to help us bridge the generation gap as the students show their appreciation for their grandparents.

In addition, many campuses are also hosting a book fair in the library to help foster the love of reading and help grandparents pass down their knowledge and literacy. From grandparents to surrogate grandparents and members of our Grandparents in Public Schools mentoring program, we look forward to celebrating National Grandparents Day with you.
