New Denton ISD Director of Purchasing Has Familiar Name

Cindy WillisCindy Willis, director of purchasing for Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, is making her return to Denton ISD as she has been named the district’s new director of purchasing. Mrs. Willis previously served as director of purchasing in Denton ISD from 2016-2018. She replaces Dianna Casper who resigned to pursue a similar position in a neighboring district.
“Cindy’s return is highly anticipated by several here in the business office,” said Vicki Garcia, executive director of financial operations. “Our department has grown quite a bit since she left but her name and reputation still carry a significant amount of weight and with her experience and expertise, we know that she will continue to build on the high standard of fiscal responsibility our community and our stakeholders have come to expect from this district.”
Mrs. Willis’ career began in 2006 where she joined Keller ISD as a buyer. She would hold that position for two years before being promoted to senior buyer. Mrs. Willis would remain a senior buyer in Keller ISD until May of 2016 when she joined Denton ISD as director of purchasing. After two years in that role, she accepted the same position in HEB ISD.
“We are very excited and fortunate that Cindy has chosen to join us again,” said Dr. Scott Niven, chief financial officer and deputy superintendent. “She brings a wealth of experiences and award-winning credentials to our team and that'll only strengthen the purchasing department and the business office as a whole. Her knowledge and compliance of our procurement policies and regulations from her previous experience with us will allow her to seamlessly step right into the role and ensure that we do not skip a beat during this transition.”
Mrs. Willis has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Texas Tech University and is a three-time Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Merit Award Recipient.
She lives in Haslet with her husband of thirty years, Rick and they have two adult aged sons.
