Harpool Middle School has been designated as a Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship Certified School. This honor is given to schools that educate students to be safe, smart, responsible, and ethical digital citizens.
Harpool Middle School has a commitment to educating and preparing students to use the power of digital media to explore, create, connect, and learn, while also limiting the perils that exist online. The tools and lessons provided to Harpool students give them highly important skills related to Internet safety, protecting online reputation and personal privacy, being safe when using social media and developing digital relationships, and respecting creative copyright. These lessons were delivered to the students over the course of the year by our campus Student Resource Officer, Instructional Technology Specialist, counselors, and librarian. The resources not only teach students, but educators and parents as well. The free resources are currently used in more than 65,000 classrooms nationwide. Common Sense Media is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of digital media and technology.
