Counseling & Social Work to Host Virtual Parenting Webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 7
Denton ISD parents are invited to virtually attend a webinar entitled “Parenting in a Pandemic: 2020, ” sponsored by the Denton ISD Counseling & Social Work Department. The virtual presentation will feature clinicians and mental health professionals who will provide relevant information on the physical and mental effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on children.
“Studies show children and teens are more likely to have the strongest reactions to current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 global pandemic,” said Amy Lawrence, director of counseling services. “Parents, family members, school staff, and other trusted adults play an important role in easing concerns through honest conversations and a compassionate tone. We hope those who tune into this webinar gain those valuable tools and more to help guide their children as they continue to cope during this pandemic”
Parents can learn how to identify signs that their child may be struggling, as well as ideas on how to mitigate the stress and anxiety they may be experiencing. Pre-submitted questions from the audience will also be answered.
The online-virtual event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and is open to parents of all Denton ISD students regardless of grade level.
