During the Annual Denton Chamber of Commerce Award Ceremony, the local business growth organization presented Denton ISD with the prestigious Collaborate Award sponsored by Peterbilt. As the 2022 award recipient, Denton ISD was honored for working tirelessly on behalf of all members of the Denton community, big and small, and not letting obstacles stand in the organization's way of educating 33,000 students. 

“Any time our district receives an award based on exemplary business practices it’s an honor with a different level of gravity,” said Dr. Jamie Wilson, superintendent of schools. “ To be recognized with an award of this caliber sponsored by our longtime partner Peterbilt, that carries ‘next level’ significance.”

As a vital part of the Denton business community,  the district recognized the workforce shortage and the gap on existing business growth and future business growth. Denton ISD stepped in to ensure district funds were spent locally when ever possible, more specifically staff launched a campaign to enroll businesses within the district’s 186 square miles as approved vendors. 

By creating initiatives including a state-of-the-art technology complex and professional training facility, the district is preparing high school students for today and tomorrow’s high demand careers – and those not yet realized. Denton ISD does not shy away from certificates – ensuring students leave with a plan in hand, whether it be college, professional certifications, or the next step to community college or into the professional world.  

“Denton ISD checks all the boxes when you think about being a collaborator,” said Brian Danhof, President of the Denton Chamber of Commerce. “There has always been a proven track record and long history of collaboration between our local business community and the district and we thank you so much for your support all these years.”

Each year, the Denton Chamber of Commerce recognizes a business, nonprofit or individual whose efforts through efficient planning and positive partnerships have helped benefit the Denton business community.
