LaGrone Academy Now Accepting Applications for 2022-2023 School Year

The Denton Independent School District’s LaGrone Academy is accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year through March 21.

The academy, housed at the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex, serves juniors and seniors who desire flexible scheduling and the opportunity to finish CTE certifications without the burden of traveling to one of the district’s four comprehensive high schools for other courses.

“We are embarking on year two as a high school of choice and the results have been phenomenal,” said Marcus Bourland, principal of LaGrone Academy. “We offer enriched instruction for our learners on a full-time basis and we expand the course offerings to benefit students who already know what their next step in life may be.”

Those interested in transferring to attend LaGrone Academy full-time for the 2022-2023 school year, should complete the commitment form by the Monday, March 21 deadline.

Learners experience smaller class sizes, more direct access to mentors/educators, and the ability to specialize in hyper-focused academics.

As part of the academy’s unique approach, learners engage in special projects that foster collaboration and innovation. Community outreach and internships have become a key part of coursework.
Learners at the LaGrone Academy will work across content areas and work on campus-wide projects as part of the school’s curriculum. An example of this is the school’s “Bus Stop Bistro” Food Truck. The food truck project, completed in 2019, utilized all areas to plan, fabricate and operate a converted school bus into a food truck that serves meals throughout the community. The project was built by students and is operated by students.
Parents and students who are interested in enrollment for the 2022-23 school year should plan to attend one of the informational meetings hosted on March 8 and March 10.

  • Tuesday, March 8, 6 – 8 p.m. at LaGrone Academy in the Lecture Hall
  • Thursday, March 10, 6 – 8 p.m. at Guyer High School in the Lecture Hall

Interest forms for the LaGrone Academy are available on the LaGrone Academy website and questions may be directed to Marcus Bourland at
