New Summer Learning Opportunities For All Students

Denton ISD has announced the plan to extend learning through the summer months in an effort to continue student success up until the first day of classes scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12. Class descriptions and more details for self-directed/online learning during June and July are available via

The links for individual classes will become live on Monday, June 1 and will be honorary, meaning no credit will be awarded for course completion.

Students who are in need of intervention at the elementary grades or credit-recovery classes at secondary campuses will be contacted by their campus to discuss individual opportunities for their specific needs.

“Parents who want to take this opportunity to make sure their student is set up for success and roll into fall classes should consider this extension of learning for the summer,” said Dr. Mike Mattingly, associate superintendent. “Our teachers have done an excellent job of working with students during this time of campus closure, so they have identified students who need intervention and have extended very specific invitations to assist students who need to catch up.”

Students who receive support from the Special Education Dept. or who participate in the Bi-Lingual/ESL program will also have opportunities to extend their learning. The specifics have been shared with a student’s family through the ARD committee.
