Denton High School students showcase their 3D art talents
Denton High School students recently displayed their artistic abilities through an increasingly popular medium, creating artwork with a 3D printer and pens for the community to see.
On May 12, Denton High students used a 3D pens provided by Dim3Printing, an Austin-based 3D printing company, to create complex artwork that would otherwise take hours to make with older media forms.
Artwork created with the 3D pens included models such as a ship, dragon, jellyfish and glasses, among others. With the 3D printer, students were able to create more intricate models, such as an opera mask or alien-looking figurines.
Martha Slack, the Denton High art teacher who oversaw the event, said students have been learning how to create art using a 3D printer and pens for the first time this year. Mrs. Slack also partnered with Dim3Printing to provide free pens to two winners of an art contest.
