Class of 2022: See you Aug. 14 for free pizza

The 2018-19 school year will begin Wednesday, Aug. 15, for all students in the Denton Independent School District, but not for high school freshmen. The district’s Freshman First Day program ensures these students get an early, first-hand look at high school life at each of their respective campuses before the rest of their classmates at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The program serves as an orientation for first-year high school students by offering a welcome program as well as allowing them to attend classes, walk the halls on their own and get acclimated to the larger campuses.

New this year, lunch will be provided to all students and staff in attendance courtesy of Smart Mouth Pizza, the district’s pizza vendor.

Freshman First Day also introduces participants to various school clubs, organizations and programs without the added stress of a typical first day of school.

In addition, bus transportation to students who would normally receive it will be provided.

For more information on the program, please contact your respective high school.
