About Our School

  • About Pecan Creek Elementary

Pecan Creek Elementary was built in 2002 and received a recent renovation/addition in 2011. The school is named after Pecan Creek, an intermittent stream that flows through the southwest Denton landscape and into Lake Lewisville on the southern portion of the county.

In a little more than a decade, Pecan Creek has earned the praise and support of its neighborhood families for developing a quality school that works to help students develop academically and socially. Daily enrichment or remediation instruction helps students achieve proper learning skills, while the school’s dedicated staff has been recognized for its innovative ideas and programs with honors and grants for them to flourish.

Pecan Creek is also one of the district’s two-way dual-language campuses, which allows students to learn from their teachers and each other in English and Spanish. The program has created a strong bond between the school’s families, students and local businesses, who support the new communication avenues developed through the program.

Students at Pecan Creek have a number of opportunities to learn more than just the elementary curriculum as running club, art club, service learning club, student council, choir and orchestra provide numerous creative, athletic and leadership outlets outside of the classroom. The school’s families are known to join on the fun too, helping sponsor fun events like the Jingle Bear Run, school dance and fall festival.
