Welcome to the Fine Arts Department

Named to the list of Best Communities for Music Education in America

The Denton Independent School District is proud to offer a wide range of fine arts instruction for all our students. The City of Denton is known throughout the state for its vibrant art and music scene and Denton ISD reflects much of that same creative expression and talent in our students and teachers.

Denton ISD has been recognized by many regional, state, and national organizations for its artistic achievements. Among the most prestigious is the district being named one of the "Best Communities for Music Education in America" by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation, for the sixth consecutive year, one of just 12 school districts in the state given that distinction in 2012.

Students are exposed to the arts from the first time they walk into our schools to the time they leave upon graduation. Denton ISD’s student participation in arts instruction averages 94 percent, with many taking advantage of the variety of programs (elementary art and music, secondary art, band, choir, orchestra, theatre arts, and dance) offered at the elementary, middle and high school level.

From painting with oils on canvas to performing Broadway-style theatre productions, our students – regardless of age or grade level – get the opportunity to express their creativity a number of ways. Denton ISD ensures that fine arts plays a vital role in developing students who are prepared for the future and this immersion in the arts only makes their academic experience more well-rounded. The school district and Denton community believe in the importance of educating the "Whole child" through comprehensive, high-quality fine arts programs.
