• Jordan Rice Kelley McGee, Assistant Director of Fine Arts

    Kelley McGee began as the Denton ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts in April 2023, and supports Eddy Russell Director of Fine Arts in administration and oversight of Denton ISD’s K-12 Fine Arts programs: art, dance, music, and theatre. Prior to working in the Fine Arts Office, Mrs. McGee served as a Campus & Family Engagement Coach with the DISD Counseling & Social Work Department for two years and as an elementary visual arts educator for twelve years between EP Rayzor, Adkins, and Borman Elementary Schools.

     

    Mrs. McGee earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Art studies from the University of North Texas, and her Master of Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Florida. She also holds her Educational Leadership Principal Certification from Lamar University. In 2014, she was named the E.P. Rayzor Elementary Teacher of the Year. In 2017, she was selected for the Alumni Award of Excellence by the UNT College of Visual Arts and Design. In 2018, she was chosen for the National Art Education Association’s School for Art Leaders program. In 2019, she was named the Adkins Elementary Teacher of the Year and was also honored by the Texas Art Educators Association as the Outstanding Elementary Art Educator of the Year. Mrs. McGee currently serves as the Elementary Division Chair of the Texas Art Education Association and served as the Elementary Commissioner on the ED&I Commission for the National Art Education Association ending the term in May 2023. She has coordinated the DISD District Art Show for 10 years, celebrating the work of K-12 student artists from every campus in the district. She also served on several campus leadership teams and as the elementary fine arts' visual art department chair. Mrs. McGee served on the elementary curriculum writing team for eight years developing the visual arts curriculum using the backward design model. 

     

    Mrs. McGee has been a part of the Denton community since 2005. Her husband, Joey, also a graduate of the University of North Texas, is an elementary counselor in Denton ISD. They have three children who attend Denton ISD schools.
