Denton ISD mariachi instruction began at Denton HS in the Fall of 2016. Mariachi has now expanded to the other campuses listed below. Mariachi is for any music students who enjoy performing diverse genres of music and learning more about the Hispanic culture which is rich in tradition and musical style. Violin members must be a part of the campus orchestra program. Trumpet members must be a part of the campus band program. No experience is necessary for students who choose to learn acoustic guitar, vihuela, or guitarron. All mariachi members will also learn to sing in mariachi style. Vocal soloists who are also members of the campus choir program are encouraged to join as well.
