LaGrone Academy? What happened to the ATC?
Don't worry, our building is still known as the ATC, but it is now home to Denton ISD's newest high school campus, LaGrone Academy! We will continue to operate as we have in the past with part-time students from other campuses, but as of Fall 2021, we offer core classes, allowing Juniors and Seniors to apply to attend as full-time students.
-
What's the difference between part-time and full-time students?
- Part-time LaGrone Academy students attend the Academy for at least one CTE course, but attend their home campuses for all other classes.
- Full-time LaGrone Academy students attend all of their classes, including core classes at the Academy.
-
Where do I go on the first day?
Enter the building through the front entrance (Look for the flag poles!) and you will be directed where to go.
-
What is the bell schedule?
For full-time LaGrone Academy students:
- 1st period: 7:55am-9:25am
- 2nd period: 9:30am-11:00am
- Lunch: 11:00am-12:25pm
- 3rd period: 12:25pm-1:55pm
- 4th period: 2:00pm-3:30pm
For part-time students that attend a different home campus:
- Morning session (A1/2 and B1/2): 8:25am-11:00am
- Afternoon session (A3/4 and B3/4): 12:25pm-2:45pm
-
What does “LaGrone Academic Dismissal” on my schedule mean?
For part-time students, this is on the schedule to offset your LaGrone Academy course. You will report to your home campus at this scheduled time and be given further direction for room location and expectations.
-
What school supplies will I need?
Each teacher will have different supply needs. On the first day, all the student needs is a pen and paper.
-
Where do I get a Verification of Enrollment (VOE)?
You may request a VOE from the front office, located to the left as you enter through the front doors.
Transportation and Parking
-
I'm a full-time student. Will bus transportation be provided?
The DISD Transportation Department sent out an email regarding bus transportation. Information is also available in HAC.
-
I'm a part-time student. Will there be shuttles from my home campus to/from the LaGrone??
Shuttles will be provided to/from the home campuses to/from LaGrone Academy during their normally scheduled times.
- If you have a morning class at the Academy on A or B days, the shuttle will depart from each home campus. The shuttle will return to home campuses in time for your 3rd block class.
- If you have an afternoon class at the Academy on A or B days, you will need to take the first lunch, “A lunch,” then proceed to the shuttle location on your home campus. The shuttle will return to the home campus in time for your 5th block class.
- If you have a morning class at the Academy on A or B days, the shuttle will depart from each home campus. The shuttle will return to home campuses in time for your 3rd block class.
-
I was planning to utilize the shuttle from my home campus; however, I missed it. What do I do?
It is important to be at your bus pickup location several minutes before the scheduled departure time. If you are a morning LaGrone student relying on the shuttle, but you also are a bus rider to the home campus in the mornings, your regular bus will likely not arrive at your home campus in time to catch the LaGrone shuttle. There are several options if this is the case:
- Have a parent/guardian drop you off at the home campus prior to the shuttle departure time.
- Have a parent/guardian drop you off at LaGrone Academy prior to the 8:25am start time. Doors open at 7:30am.
- If the two options above are not feasible, you will need to speak with your Academic Counselor to see if you can switch your LaGrone Academy class to an afternoon section. However, there is very limited availability in the afternoon sections of classes at the LaGrone Academy.
- Have a parent/guardian drop you off at the home campus prior to the shuttle departure time.
