Dr. Claudia Calvo-Montes

Dr. Calvo-Montes has worked in Denton ISD since 2015. Dr. Calvo-Montes immigrated to the United States from Bolivia over 20 years ago, and in 2016, earned her citizenship. Over the last two decades, Dr. Calvo-Montes has worked as a teacher, instructional coach, academic specialist and campus administrator in both Irving and Denton ISDs. 

She was the assistant principal of Borman Elementary for three years, and in that span, assisted in the efforts for the school to become an authorized International Baccalaureate campus. 

Dr. Calvo-Montes’ commitment to student learning and her display of exceptional leadership earned her the title of the 2020 Region 11 Education Service Center Assistant Principal of the Year, awarded by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). 

Dr. Calvo-Montes earned a bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres in 1998 and a master’s degree in educational leadership also from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2013. She completed the doctoral program at Dallas Baptist University in 2020.
