• About Nelson Elementary

Built in 2007, Nelson Elementary is one of the district’s newest elementary schools. The school is named after L.A. Nelson, a Denton attorney who served as a member of the city council and mayor.

Nelson has established itself as a fun and invigorating learning environment for students in a short amount of time. From festive events like Sock Hops and Pride Nights to more informative happenings like Career Fair and Science Nights, there always seems to be something going on to get students and family excited about education.

A burgeoning outdoor learning area aims to keep Nelson students connected with nature while the use of Skype and video editing software in the classroom ensures students get their hands on the latest technology in the classroom. Guidance opportunities abound for students, with a student council and recycling team, as well as for families, with a PTA and Campus Leadership Team.

Students at Nelson have a number of opportunities to showcase their talents in and out of the classroom. There is a running club, book club, art club, choir and orchestra. Students are also routinely recognized by administration and teachers for their good citizenship or helping other, making Nelson the perfect place to build an educational foundation.
