9 Students Selected for the TMEA Region 2 Jazz Ensemble

On Saturday, September 14, students from Denton ISD's four comprehensive high school's participated in the Texas Music Educators Assocation Region 2 Jazz Ensemble Auditions among students from all across Region 2 including Lake Dallas, Lewisville, Northwest ISDs and others.

The audition consists of an improvised solo and three prepared etudes selected by TMEA. The students selected to the Region 2 Jazz Ensemble also qualify to audition for the TMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble, which will take place October 15. 

Denton ISD students were selected for nine of the 20 positions in the Region 2 Jazz Ensemble, the most from any single district. Six of the DISD students are from Denton HS, the most from any single school. The students in the Region 2 Jazz Ensemble have the opportunity to participate in a clinic together on November 15-16 and will perform in a public concert, November 16, at Eaton High School.
