On Saturday, October 9, Denton ISD's high school marching bands continued their competition season. The Braswell Band performed in the Bands of America North Texas Regional Championship at Pennington Field in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. The Ryan HS Band hosted the 5th annual Don Hanna Memorial Band Contest at C.H. Collins Stadium. Both the Denton HS and Guyer HS Bands performed in this contest and advanced from the 21 bands prelims to the top 10 in finals. Guyer finished the contest ranking 8th in finals and Denton HS finished ranking 9th overall. The Ryan Band performed an exhibition and the crowd also enjoyed a special exhibition performance by the Northwestern State University "Spirit of Northwestern" Marching Band.

Congratulations to all our high school bands for their continued success this contest season. Best wishes to all of them as they begin UIL competition on Saturday, October 16 in the UIL Region 2 Marching Band Contest at C.H. Collins Stadium. That contest is free for the public to attend. We encourage everyone to cheer on and support our marching bands in their performances!
