On Saturday, Oct. 16, all of Denton ISD's high school marching bands performed in the UIL Region 2 Marching Band Contest at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex. The four bands gave outstanding performances and all four received unanimous 1st Division "Superior" ratings from all of the judges. All four bands will advance to their respective UIL classification's Area level contest.
Denton High and Ryan High bands will perform in the UIL 5A Area B Marching Band Contest on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Children's Health Stadium in Prosper ISD. Twenty-two bands will perform in the preliminary competition with Denton High performing at 9:45 a.m. and Ryan High at 10:45 a.m. The top ten scoring bands in prelims will advance to finals beginning at 7 p.m. The top four scoring bands at the end of Area finals will advance to the UIL 5A State Marching Band Contest on Nov. 1-2 at the San Antonio Alamodome.
Braswell High and Guyer High bands will perform in the UIL 6A Area C Marching Band Contest on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Mesquite ISD's Memorial Stadium. Twenty-eight bands will perform in the preliminary competition with Braswell High performing at 11:00 a.m. and Guyer High at 4:00 p.m. The top ten scoring bands in prelims will advance to finals beginning at 7:30 p.m. The top five scoring bands at the end of Area finals will advance to the UIL 6A State Marching Band Contest on Nov. 8-9 at the San Antonio Alamodome.
Denton ISD is extremely proud of the students and directors in all four of its high school marching bands. We congratulate them for their UIL 1st Division ratings and wish them the best in the Area level competition.
