Welcome to Theatre! My name is Jeannene Abney, and I am one of the proud directors of the Ryan High School Theatre Department. My artistic journey began at Ryan in 1992, and I am beginning my 31st year as a proud Ryan Raider. Ryan High School is an amazing campus with great teachers and wonderful, supportive administrative staff members who truly reflect our motto "The Home of Champions".
The Ryan theatre department has had many student success stories. Our students have represented Ryan as both competitors and champions at the district, state and national levels in UIL, TFA, NSDA, and ITS. I love my job because it keeps me spiritually young and artistically current. I also love my opportunity to continue to act and direct in the community, which is a constant reminder of what the process involves. I live by the motto, "Today is the beginning of a life-long journey of learning".
Theatre Production I is a training class which introduces students to warm-ups, vocal and physical techniques, script and character analysis, and character relationships and connections through both acting and forensic events. This is a performance-based class. Theatre Arts 2,3,4 classes build upon Theatre 1 training and allows the students to take their theatre experience to a higher level.
I am so excited to begin our Journey and have you all...
