About Hawk Elementary
Hawk Elementary was built in 2005 and was one of the first campuses located outside of the Denton city limits, in Corinth. The school is named for Mildred Hawk, a local philanthropist and educational supporter, who stressed the importance of literacy to enhance the learning experience for all students.
Hawk Elementary emphasizes the importance of community in education by hosting several events like science nights, summer reading initiatives and recycling programs to encourage families to be involved in their child’s learning experiences. As an established Professional Learning Community, the school staff works together to ensure progress for students academically, socially and emotionally.
Student participation in both educational measures and community service projects is a regular sight at Hawk Elementary. A Student Ambassador program allows students to build leadership skills in and out of the classroom, while guidance lessons are offered to families during the school year.
Students at Hawk have a number of opportunities to showcase their talents as well through participation in art club, math club, choir, orchestra and student council. There is access to an outdoor learning center for students to study science using real world observance and a strong relationship with nearby Crownover Middle School allows for students to get an early grasp of secondary expectations.
