Kelly Korenek, LibrarianDobrý den! (Good day! in Czech)It is both an honor and a privilege to open the Rodriguez Middle School Learning Hub this school year. Working and learning in a new state of the art facility is very exciting, but it is the students, families, and staff who make a school a home. Building community is important to me, and creating a warm and welcoming environment in the Learning Hub is my number one priority.I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Reading from West Texas A&M University in 1997 and my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas in 2009. I spent seven years teaching in the classroom and ten years working as a teacher-librarian. I opened the L.A. Nelson Elementary Library in 2007, and this year I am so excited to call Rodriguez Middle School my new home!Maya Jaykumar, Library Assistant
I am excited to be a part of the Rodriguez Learning Hub. I love reading, crafting and puzzles and I am happy to share my interests with our students. I have a daughter and son who have both been with Denton ISD from K through 12. I have been a library assistant at Evers Park, a volunteer, a substitute teacher, and a PTA member at elementary, middle, and high schools in Denton ISD.
I grew up in India. I came to the United States when I was 19. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Library and Information Science at the University of North Texas.
I enjoy traveling and my goal is to visit every state in the US. I Have been to 34 states and Washington D.C. I have also been to Australia and of course traveled around India.
I look forward to working with the Rodriguez staff and students.
