- Overview
Welcome to LaGrone Academy
-
Originally opened in 2006 as the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex, the campus is named for Sarah and Troy LaGrone, who were extremely active with the Denton Public School Foundation.
In 2021, Denton ISD announced the establishment of the LaGrone Academy, a high school of choice, that would sharpen the district’s focus on college and career readiness. By establishing the LaGrone Academy, students now have the option to attend the campus on a full-time basis or part-time as needed for their specific areas of study.
The LaGrone Academy is a professional training facility aimed at preparing high school students for today’s and tomorrow’s high-demand careers. In addition to serving Denton ISD students, the LaGrone Academy also serves students from neighboring districts, who utilize the facility for programs not offered in their home district.
The complex’s main purpose is to provide high school juniors and seniors with professional training and/or pre-college courses. Students also have the opportunity to earn university or community college credit and/or the necessary preparation to attain certifications or licenses in certain technical fields.
The Advanced Technology Complex, now known as the LaGrone Academy, is dedicated to providing students of Denton County with an outstanding career and technical educational opportunity. We have over 30 pathways designed to help students enter the work force and/or prepare them for their future education at college. The instructors are passionate and dedicated to providing students with a hands-on experience that will lead them to nationally recognized credentials and certifications.
Our instructors are certified and professionals in their career field, work in state of the art equipment and provide a unique and safe environment for students. We encourage parents to take an active role in your students CTE experience by volunteering in the classroom, become a guest speaker or join PTA. Students are highly encouraged to “get involved” on their home campuses and CTSO organizations here on the LaGrone campus. We look forward to working with you and your students in the future!
