This year, Denton ISD is initiating Naviance for 8th graders. Naviance is a single source high school, college and career planning and readiness platform aimed at preparing secondary students for life after high school.
The first task for current 8th graders is to complete the Career Key and their 4 year high school plan. More information on how to accomplish these will follow soon.Using Naviance, students will:
- Take career assessments and inventories to identify their strengths and weaknesses for targeted college and career planning
- Research college admission requirements to determine how the student matches academically with a specific school
- Research careers and clusters including assessments, occupational information, salary and growth potential
- Create goals, resumes, and college essays and apply directly to the universities of their choice
Naviance allows students and families to access a vast array of information from a single source. You will be seeing and hearing “Naviance” used in many different ways while your student is in high school.
